My husband supported me during the birth of our daughter and as a result, I was able to have a the birth experience I wanted which included no artificial pain relief, it wouldn't have been possible without him doing counter pressure and supporting me throughout the experience. I understand why there are no partners on postnatal ward but labour ward is different, it's a hugely significant life event for mammy, daddy and baby. We correct precautions, dad's presence does not pose an addition risk to other patients or staff.

Think of the impact on the mother at the birth not having the support and the impact on the dad being absent.

Women need more support at this time not less. They need evidence based care and options and information informed by scientific data so they can make their own informed choices.

I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant as a teen mother and I wouldn’t even dream of doing it alone I’m absolutely so stressed and I know this will lead to further complications in delivery as I don’t have a clue what to expect

It is unnecessary to outright ban Fathers (or other parents) form witnessing the birth of their child when there are so many precautions that can be taken first.
