No unified dress code at DBMS
Greetings parents,
This letter is in regards to the unified dress code at Deerfield Beach Middle. Students in the past have been allowed to wear, basically anything they please; but as of the 2011-2012 school year, this has changed. The goal of this letter is to persuade you to sign the petition that will change this. Although this change may bring about problems, it is in everybody’s best interest to dress freely.
School uniforms infringe upon students’ right to express creativity and individuality. According to recent studies, on average, it costs about $249 to clothe a single student in uniform per year. By taking away uniforms at Deerfield Beach Middle, it will save nearly $747 throughout the 3 years your child will spend at Deerfield Middle. Agreed, uniforms do create a fair playing ground and structure for each student, but when it comes to the real world, there isn’t a fair playing ground and little to no structure.
