Final supporters
Tower Hamlets Council is proposing to bring its Youth Services back ‘in house’, delivering services themselves rather than in partnership with organisations they have been working with to deliver services, some for over 10 years. They say this will achieve better ‘localism’ and that the community will be more engaged in better services this way. We disagree.
We the undersigned believe that the proposal to transfer the youth service ‘in house’ should be rejected.
We believe the Youth Service in its current form offers greater variety, with more structured and accredited provision, reaching a far greater cross section of the community than it did previously when it was run in house by the Local Authority. We believe that the alternative proposal to re-tender the contracts and keep delivery of Youth Services in the community is the best way forward for young people of the borough.

I am putting together a formal brief for the council cabinet members regarding the risks of moving these services in house. Several local providers have contacted me to share data on their current reach and service outcomes which will be included in this report.

The volume of support has now reached a point where council officials have agreed to a formal briefing session. I am currently finalizing the evidence pack to present at this meeting to demonstrate why the current partnership model is superior to an in-house transition.

Ridiculous idea. The services are fine as they are. Why change it now??
TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. Keep the current providers they have 10 years of experience the council is just being greedy.
My son loves these clubs. They helped him so much through school. Dont take this away from the youth.
The council will just ruin it like everything else. Keep it in the community where it belongs.
We need more support for young people not less. Leave the youth services alone.
