I can see the merits of a visitors centre,but please not in the disasterously damaging currently proposed position!! The wildness of Spurn will be lost forever !!

As a Spurn bird obs committee member I have to be very careful what I write as the YWT are the observatory's landlord. It doesn't take a genius to work out what is at stake if I am too vocal amount these monstrous plans. Wholly unsuitable they will cause mass disturbance to a small and fragile area, and a much better site lies only some 200 metres up the road, CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!

Seems the YWT are prepared to let down nature once again. Could anyone imagine the Norfolk Wildlife Trust or others pushing on with a scheme such as this? Thought not. During my 40+ years of birding the YWT have never had a good reputation, seems the present management want to carry the tradition on!

Dec 5th 2014, storm surge washes away part of the road down the peninsula, again. If the road is repaired, it will only happen again, so how can YWT maintain the income stream now that cars can't drive down to the point. Answer, never mind the birds, let's build a visitor centre with money given to us by an energy company, no doubt keen to improve their caring for wildlife credentials. Never mind that it's bad for migrating birds and the vast majority of the locals (in spite of YWT's spin) don't want it. Do the idiots at YWT know what they are doing?

this is purely money making venture in favour of the YWT it has no benefit for the community and is destroying vital habitat

The site proposed by YWT for the new visitor centre is totally in appropraite and by nothing more than an eye sore as well as destroying an excellent wildlife area

the plan for a visitor centre on the proposed site would be totally out of place. I think visitors to spurn appreciate the wild feel of the place and would not wish for this to be changed.
