Tornar as cidades modernas não pode obrigar a descaracterizá-las como se tem feito no Algarve, com os danos que se vêem na maior parte das zonas costeiras.

These thoughtless plans for the destruction of a beautiful and historic city centre, which is unique and remarkably coherent at the moment, are catastrophic. Many of us from outside recognise the value of Olhão for its historic authenticity and beauty, reflecting local traditions and ways of life, which these plans would demolish.
The current Cultural Centre is a highly-valued and admired resource which needs restoration not replacement.

We love it the way it is - the historical centre and other old buildings, the old cobbled streets, the simple waterfront and promenade. The fact that there are no high-rise buildings, no 'gimmicky tourist attractions', no chain restaurants or coffee shops make Olhao what it is a historical old working town and port with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. If these changes go ahead it will all be lost and become just another tourist town on the Algarve.

The best thing about Olhao was the wonderful old part. Do not ruin it, it's what people come to see. No tower blocks or mucking around with traditional buildings!

It would be a crime to destroy this very beautiful traditionl Portuguese town and turn it into something more modern! They did this to carvoeiro and now it looks horrible!
