We the undersigned residents, property owners, and friends of Lee County, NC oppose the Little River Quarry because: 1) the Little River Quarry does NOT promote the public health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of Lee County; 2) the quarry will diminish the value of residential property in surrounding neighborhoods, and; 3) the special land use is NOT in conformity with the Greenwood Small Area Plan or the Lee County 2020 plan, and is NOT in harmony with an urbanized area.

This is just what Lee County needs: more pollution, dirty drinking water, more heavy traffic, rock blasting, reduction in home values and it is being sold as economic development - what a pathetic attempt to ruin a beautiful county.
I am a resident and property owner in Carolina Trace. I oppose this quarry for several reasons including environmental impact, traffic safety impact of trucks entering Hwy. 87, and negative impact on property values in and around Carolina Trace.
Being downstream from a quarry that uses water from the river that feeds our lake could lower the water table, increase river siltation, damage the fishery and disrupt the fragile eco-system of Lake Trace. I am adamantly opposed to the Little River Quarry proposal.
We moved to Sanford over five years ago because of it's quiet country atmosphere and lack of traffic. A quarry near where we live would change what we came here for. Traffic and noise would cause me to seriously consider relocating.
The blasting in the quarry could cause shock waves that will damage foundations of homes in the area; and the machines that crush the rock quarried with cause noise pollution. The presence of the quarry will have an adverse affect on the prices of homes in the area.
We don't need this in our cities. The health and welfare of the people is supposed to outweigh the profit made by these companies. I'm retired, we don't need poor health conditions and unsafe conditions killing us and draining our money to fix foundation problems caused by blasting. Come on people let's stop this quarry from happening.
My family and I live in the area and we here loud booms constantly.

Moving to Carolina Trace soon and would hate for the rock quarry to disturb the tranquil setting of the area. We lived near a rock quarry in Virginia and it sounded like WWIII some nights. I understand we need quarries, just keep them away from residential areas...please.
