I agree with the council.
As to the mess & vandalism at this area, the restaurant must need glasses, as I have lived in the area most of my life & the area has always look nice, clean & tidy as I walk through it every day. This was just the restaurant trying to say they are doing the area a favour. [Not] As regard to parking, I see no difference from any other restaurant, café, shop in Edinburgh or Dalkeith, Musselburgh etc., as we all know you have to find some place to park off the main street. This area is public land, If the council grant this to Gigi gigs then others will use it as a test case to land grab what little public land we have for own gain & not the publics Also if the restaurant was to close with no new owners the area would soon turn into a dump as the council would not be obligated to look after it as they do now & Luigi Pia would not lose any sleep. I know Luigi Pia would be upset if someone tried to force a car park in her area. The local residents are all against this idea, the only people who are for it are the restaurant owners & customers, They would also be in favour of flattening our homes for car parking if it meant they would not have to walk up a side street.
I hope the council continue to refuse the restaurant.
