The Shire has officially decided to end the differential rating system. This result is entirely due to your persistence and I am honestly shocked that we reached this point together. Please keep an eye on the council meetings moving forward to make sure these changes stay in place.
I am honestly stunned by how many of you have stepped up to call for change. It is clear that I am not the only one feeling this pressure and this momentum belongs entirely to the people who continue to speak out.

Kununurra rates are ridiculous
Services where we live a few. No street lights, a non gazetted road. We don't know where it starts and finishes. Couldn't even call it gravel.
We have owned this property for 20 years

We pay around $5000 in rates a year and have no sewer or water services! Bin services only just came this year and we are expected to pay extra for it! I would prefer the shire to manage its cost problems better instead of passing the buck!

I wish to protest againt the rate rise as I believe that our rates are much higher than similar suburbs in Australia and not warranted. Another rate increase will be crippling to the already struggling ratepayers in town.

Swek need to lower their staff wages FYI 3 weeks of SWEK wages advised at the last meeting was $460,000.00 nearly half a MILLION dollars in 3 WEEKS!!
No wonder they want to keep raising rates....

I have lived in kununurra my entire life- 20odd years- I love the town and want to live there for ever and raise my children there, how would I be able to that if I can't afford the rent/rates- why should have to worry about having a roof over my kids head or food on the table

There should not be a rate rise and the councillors were voted in because they told us they would listen to the community, so far this has not been done. There are no facts to warrant this rate rise.

It is time the shire councillors began to work for the rate payers. Stop paying people in top jobs over the top wages. Start making decisions to benefit the shire. Ask the questions is it good for the rate payers and will it be good for everybody?
