I support SB234. The tubing companies and their customers have destroyed the San Marcos river. A private plan should not be allowed, it is not enforceble and would not prevent other companies from being part of the problem.

I'm not usually for more government, but the problems created by the tubing outfitters and their patrons can only be controlled by enacting legislation to create a WORD or some similar authority to enforce some critically needed rules and regulations.

promises, promises. that's all we hear from the outfitters - no action. Let their past actions (or lack of) speak for them now.

My house is about 1000 feet from one of the outfitters. I've seen several previous "self-policing" efforts fail miserably.

I am a land owner on the San Marcos River. I have seen, first hand, the change in the river after the tubers arrived. I do not trust them to be concedrned with the mess they are making. They have never done anything but make things worse.

We have been down this road before. The MOU is not adequate to protect the river and our property. Tubing Company's can not even secure their own sites much less the entire San Marcos River. Spend a hour or two at Don's Fish Camp and you will see how little security there is and how much under age drinking goes on every weekend. Holidays are much worse. Please vote no on this alternative and provide some real, independent security to protect the river from all the pollution (beer cans, bottles, plastic containers, urine, noise) that results from the tubers. Drunk tubers, especially under age drunk tubers, are a big problem and can cause damage to many, innocent victims.

Save the river and support the Senate Bill. MOU will do nothing except ensure a polluted river for years to come and line the pockets of Don's/Tx State Tubes.

We need real police working for us on river and neighborhoods, not the tubers' rent-a-cops who just join the party. The private plan will do nothing to patrol or fix our roads in Spring River Estates.

The MOU is just another empty promise that will go away as soon as the legislative session is over.
