I checked out the website for Verdant Health and it seems they are a County-sponsored Public Health organization that is largely funded by County taxes. They are also known as Public Hospital District No. 2, Snohomish County. Their programs support mental health, food insecurity, and basic healthcare access. I suspect that the only impact on RFA services would be if a Verdant patient had a medical emergency and had to be transported to a local hospital, the cost of the transport fees might have to be written off by the RFA, or Verdant might have to reimburse the RFA. Probably not a material amount of money.

Can somebody please talk about the role that the Public Hospital District/Verdant plays in this? Property taxes are paid to them, they have about $62 million in reserves and investments (check out their budget on their website) and have the statutory power to offer and pay for ambulance services.

I’m opposed to the RFA annexation for multiple reasons: 1) You don’t hand over services that are vital to the town’s existence to organizations that have demonstrated bad management. . 2) You don’t give away real estate, with the option of buying it back.. it’s nuts! 3) you don’t trust people who cannot give you the $7mill they owe you, and now want to charge you excessive amounts in order to cover their deficits. It means that they don’t know how to manage taxpayer funds, and are not willing to learn. Bad business !

I'm opposed to RFA annexation and the potential cost increase associated with it. Of I'm going to pay more in taxes, if rather pay it to edmonds and have our own municipal police and fire services.

Please vote no for RFA annexation, be fiscally responsible. No double taxation and lay off those 50 employees to help balance the budget.

Terminate negotiations with the RFA and walk away from RFA annexation. This is a horrible deal for Edmonds residents.

Just NO to more taxes from anywhere. Just NO We do not NEED to grow bigger and bigger. We can stay a small town and protect our way of life. It that means cutting Edmonds government, so be it.

Worse than the RFA is the handling of this matter by the Mayor and most of the City Council.

I strongly oppose the RFA proposal and annexation in Edmonds.

Without the city providing taxpayers with a quid-pro-quo for what the city is already collecting and in-turn paying to the RFA per the current contract, I cannot support annexation to the RFA.

The proposed price rise is unconscionable.

Charging Edmonds taxpayers for RFA's failure to manage their money makes no sense. A lot of people in Edmonds are already struggling, we don't need more added to the pile.

My elderly parents have already had to sell their house back to the bank in order to be able to stay in their home. Edmonds cannot afford even higher property taxes.
