"NO" to rezoning of Don's Seafood to a Funeral Home

To have resturants only on Youree, bad ones by the way and not anywhere else in the city is rediculous. That should not be another funeral home

This meeting for rezoning with such short notification cast suspicion on the process. The applicant has a recent suspicious fire and a reprimand from the state board of enbalmers.

I strongly object to a funeral home being located on the corner of Kings Highway and Highland Avenue. Not only is the additional traffic a concern, but the zoning exception for a funeral home will set a presidence for future business zonings of this type, not to mention the possiblity of lowering our neighborhood property values.

This location is not viable for traffic concerns a funeral home would provide.

We moved into this neighborhood for its tranquility and family oriented ambience. Thus, changing the rules to allow the insertion of an incongruous business is particularly distressing. Traffic will be adversely affected. Property values will decline. Not to mention the adverse impact on the general character of this neighborhood. I believe there are many residents in this area who are unaware of this proposal, but would oppose this re-zoning effort if they knew it was being considered. At this time of the season, it is appropriate to raise the specter of a Pottersville in Highland as portrayed in “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Why do this? Please DON’T do this.

I vote “No” for the rezoning of the old “Don’s Seafood” to a funeral home. First of all, I am surprised the city has let it go this far just for the fact of the added traffic to an already congested road. Can you imagine Kings Highway being closed up to three times a day with a funeral procession in one direction and the other lanes pulling over or stopping out of respect for the deceased? Secondly, as I live on Atkins behind the property, another concern is the overflow of people parking on our streets. Thirdly, is my concern for those of us on my street that have spent years remodeling and/or refurbishing our homes to keep our neighborhood neat and attractive just to have a funeral home bring our property values down.

There is a reason for zoning in the first place. My question would be WHY would re-zoning be appropriate? Just because? Do we just re-zone because ONE business wants a whole neighborhood rezoned? That doesn't make sense. Cathy Sledge

I live in South Highland. I walk these areas with my children and pets. I do not feel that this is an appropriate area for a funeral home. The traffic in this area is already terrible on a good day.

This aera is to congested already!

The streets are already to small. All that extra traffic would make driving on that road worse than ur already is.

a funeral home is and will be a horrible idea. traffic is already a pain in the butt, that would only add to it. please do not turn the old building into a funeral home!!!

No way, that would be a terrible use of that property. Plus, the traffic.....yikes!!
