No, to planned new build two storey dwelling to the garden space of 442 Ridgacre Road West

I am deeply concerned about the imminent plans to develop housing in Old Quinton. The newbuild in question will be in extremely close proximity to neighbouring properties, exacerbating existing issues such as parking shortages and noise disturbance. This development threatens the unique family-oriented and green character of our beloved area.
Currently, there is already no sufficient capacity for cars to park relative to the household demands, leading to increased tensions and inconvenience among residents. Moreover, the proposed construction site will reduce privacy for many, further adding to the stress of those living nearby. The safety of our roads is another pressing concern. The area where development is planned serves as a blind spot on the junction of Meadow Road, posing a significant risk for traffic collisions. This is already restricted due to parked cars.
The development does not only threaten human convenience and safety but also has a perilous impact on nature. There are currently wood pigeons nesting in the conifer trees here and they nest all year around. We are proud of Old Quinton's green spaces—places that provide a home for wildlife and a serene escape for families and residents. Construction work will undoubtedly disrupt local fauna and reduce these precious green areas.
Prior to the sale of 442 Ridgacre Road West, the land was maintained and well looked after with an array of beautiful roses, shrubs and plants creating a relaxing oasis. This was a well known and well loved part of the road.
The increase in housing will further lead to higher traffic and noise levels, undermining the peaceful environment that makes Old Quinton an ideal place to raise families. We need to preserve our community's charm, which lies in its peaceful streets and communal green patches, not in expanded residential blocks. The building operations will also disrupt vermin and rodents that were disrupted when the last new build development took place. This puts residents at risk of various illnesses carried by them.
Ridgacre Road West is already a busy road for foot traffic and is a route to at least five local schools, alot of children walk this route alone. Reducing pavement capacity due to building works and utilities will cause children to cross an already busy road where the speed limit is not observed.
Join me in opposing these plans not just for ourselves, but for future generations who deserve to experience the traditional, harmonious atmosphere of Old Quinton. Let us call upon the local council and decision-makers to take these concerns into account and reevaluate plans for further housing developments.
