As you are aware Croydon council have asked residents on Frant road about our opinion on having parking bays with meters on our road. However, even as they have stated, this will not ensure you have parking outside your own home, it will mean you face a yearly cost and if you have more than one car you could face anything up to £320. In addition to this everytime you have a guest they will also have to pay for the pleasure of your company.
This is an easy way to for the council to make money. We already have enough issues on our street with fly tipping and anti social behaviour. Lets recommend they deal with these issues first. It was only last Summer we were told a Primary school was going to be opened on our door step and now they want us to pay for the pleasure of parking on our own road.
There are other ways of dealing with traffic and parking that the council could explore, such as making it a one way road. However, they have not explored this avenue, perhaps as there is not much revenue for them to gain from this method. Hmmm...

I dont believe residents should be penalised for a busy road by paying to park. My car has been damaged by a scuff of another car four times in one month, so I do believe we need something changed. We could in fact have a one way street so there is not as much squeezing through. Also we could have parking permits which residents dont have to pay for. Each resident should get two permits free. Paying to park on your own road is ridiculous. 132 Frant Road

We are being penalised for someone's great idea of putting a school across the road as if parking wasn't bad enough with people from the hospital parking here every day. Traffic has got so bad now that if I go anywhere in the car during the day I can hardly get back into the street let alone park. Added to this, my car has been damaged twice within a space of a week by people trying to pull in to let a line of cars past, and I wouldn't be surprised if I was the only person this has, or will happen to. We've all seen on a daily basis how ridiculous the traffic is down this road now.

34 Frant Road. In 2006 the council tried to set up parking meters, with less parking spaces than houses, any bend in the road was yellow lined, I think this would cause friction between neighbours. The council have tried twice to impose this system. NO TO PARKING METERS/BAYS AND OVER THE TOP PARKING PERMIT FEES THAT WILL RISE EVERY YEAR.
