Considering data centers at this time is beyond horrendous for Frederick County. The tremendous drought we’re experiencing is extremely concerning. We personally know of a number of wells that have gone dry. Wells that are not bouncing back and are not producing water, even being drilled to a thousand feet and more. None of this is okay. The explosive growth and now these data centers??? Our quality of life is being destroyed and there will be no water.

Neighboring states and jurisdictions are pressing the pause button on Data Center development for a multitude of VALID reasons. Surely the EDA, PC, and BOS are aware of this. If they are not, that is a bigger issue which constituents should also address with the Board. It's a delicate balance between meeting a county's fiscal needs/desires and the vehement opposition from the community to the data centers when there ARE other options. I would encourage our elected officials to proceed with caution, listen to the community and shy away from the fiscal disasters, litigation and rampant community distrust we are witnessing elsewhere in Data Center "Jurisdictions". Tough times, require creative thinkers not cookie cutter quick solutions. I challenge Frederick County to do better.
