No to building More subsidized housing in Geen Township
The Ohio Housing Finance Agency or OHFA, is trying to build more subsidized housing on the East Side of Logan Ohio, more specifically, right across the road from the Green Elementary School and the Logan Middle School. This Project is projected to cost $7.5 million tax payer dollars. Each unit is projected to cost $150k. That is nearly $50k over the median cost of houses in Hocking County. They are planning on building over 50 units, housing an estimated 2-2 1/2 children per unit. According to the Superintendent of the Logan-Hocking School district, Green Elementary is already at full capacity. The Superintendent also said that if that many Children were to move into the School district all at once, which would inevitably happen, current and future students of green elementary would be displaced and would most likely have to attend a different School. The closest being Union Furnace. Other than overcrowding, safety is also a concern. Traffic during School hours is already an issue for parents dropping off and picking up their Children. Not to mention the safety of the Children who would be crossing an already dangerous road to get to school or even just to play at the school facilities, especially during the summers when restricted speed limits are not enforced. Overall, this is just a bad idea for everyone involved. Please take the time to sign this petition, telling our local government that we do not want overcrowded schools, we do not want to displace our Children, we do not want to over burden our already burdened teachers, and we DO NOT want the safety and education of our children compromised.
