If you want to save money, don't ask for problems you will have to correct down the road by placing 10 year old children with 13-14 year old adolecents

There is research indicating that younger students attending middle schools have a higher rate of behavioral incidents, lower academic achievement, and lower graduation rates as compared to same-age peers who remain in an elementary school setting. Why would we set our kids up for potential failure?

This move is not in the best interest of the children and is not educationally sound. This move is being suggested, so the district can supposedly save money and so they can close a neighborhood elementary school

These children will not be physically or emotionally prepared for the jr. high atmosphere. How could you possibly think they would do well academically!!!???

Please keep the 5th graders in the elementary school. It makes no sense to close Walter Miller because it is the most updated elementary school in the district. It also has sidewalks where the children can walk safely to school.

5th graders do not belong in middle school!! I don't think 6th grade should be either.. Also Walter miller is a great school with great teachers this would be a big LOSS to the kids if it closed!!

There is so much offered at Walter S. Miller and I feel that it's a fantastic school. My sister will have to go to a new school and I feel that us children should have a say on what happens to our schools! Do not close our schools!

This is devastating to our children and is going to cause so much confusion for them. Our children are in a routine and feel comfortable and focused in their environment. My 8 year daughter has been crying because she does not want to go to another school. The board should be concentrating on fixing the schools we have. They will spend time making a bigger school and years from now that school will fall apart and will be abandoned for another. When does the cycle end. What are we paying all of these schools taxes for if there doesn't seem to be any money. Makes me wonder who is lining their pockets. I agree that 10 and 11 year olds do not belong with older children!

Ten years old is too young to start middle school and to come home to an empty house. I vote no to fifth graders in Middle School. Ten year old should not be exposed to the pressures of Middle School. Let's think of the safety of our children, please.

Leave the 5th graders in elementary school. They are already subjected to too many things that are over their heads.

Combining 10-11 year olds with 6-8th graders is crazy. These youngsters should not be exposed to the pressures of Middle School.
