Signing this petition shows your support for better testing to diagnose and predict preeclampsia. The Preeclampsia Foundation represents women with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Biomarkers are powerful laboratory tools that can be used to detect and predict pathology before symptoms. Yet healthcare providers are still using antiquated tools: blood pressure, proteinuria, maternal symptoms, and basic blood
chemistries which are highly variable, nonspecific and poorly predictive of
outcomes. We are calling upon leaders in research, industry, regulatory bodies, policy makers, professional societies, and eventually payers to engage and address this call to action, removing barriers and accelerating the development and adoption of biomarkers to improve screening and diagnosis of hypertensive and placental disorders of pregnancy. Ridiculous that we are still using outdated testing. Why is medical tech so slow on this?
