I wish to establish my strong oppostion to the expansion of Heathrow airport. It is madness to increase the existing environmental damage - noise and pollution and traffic congestion - and seems not to take into account the inevitable lack of fossil fuels in the future. of

I concure with comments already made - a third runway is a totally unnacceptable proposal and there are any number of clear alternatives.The noise and roadtraffic congestion and pollution is already unbearable.

No other capital city has planes landing over it.We moved and rebuilt Hong Kong airport before handover and this has been a great success..

I agree that the safety issue cannot be ignored. A few months before Lockerbie, I modelled a disaster, for legal analysis, very similar to the actual event. It was chilling to hear the news of the PanAm plane crashing. But for the skill of Capt Burkill, the BA 777 would have not reached the Heathrow perimeter fence where it belly flopped some years ago and there would have been carnage when it crashed on final approach.
