The noise pollution is already at an excessively high level that is not only very unpleasant but disruptive of normal life. The expansion of Heathrow is completely unacceptable even as a last resort. There are alternatives.

Further expansion of Heathrow isn't the answer. We need a brand new, purpose built airport with fast transport link to Central London. It can be built without disruption to existing service and once complete services gradually transitioned. Build cost will be aided by not having to work overnight and development won't be constrained by existing infrastructure.

Whilst they may be able to make space on the ground for another runway at Heathrow trying to manage the increased number of aeroplanes in the skies above Heathrow increases the risks of a serious incident occurring beyond an acceptable level, not to mention the noise and air pollution!

I have lived under the flightpath all my life 45years and it is getting noisier and more crowded every day. The pollution and noise is terrible, we can not leave our windows open at night in the summer as the fights start at 4am. Please try living here for 2 weeks and see how you like it.

Heathrow and surrounding area is already saturated. Residents already have to put up with the noise. If it is expanded there will be no relief. Surely the time had come to investigate other areas and options regards Judy Lloyd

Heathrow is large enough and blights the peace of all that live under the flight lanes.

This proposed reinforcement of an already over-dominant London is against the short, medium and long-term interests of the UK. Policy should concentrate on diversifying air travel hubs in England, creating space in Heathrow by ensuring that priority is given to international teravel requirements. This can be done by ensuring that all other flights are started and ended at Gatwick or Stanstead or Londeon City. Similarly, all non-residential international stopovers cd be redirected to other UK airports. West London already suffers extremely because of over-use of Heathrow - further expansion wd be irresponsible. .

Heathrow should not be expanded further. Living under the current Heathrow flight path is bad enough already (this morning already over 10 early morning, noisy, sleep disturbing flights starting 4.50 am). Options to the East in less populated areas must be better longer term.

The Thames Estuary option is a no-brainer. Why worsen air and road traffic in the West when there is a perfect alternative to the East? Simply crazy.

major international airport should not be situated in such a densely populated area ... why can't we be like, e.g. Washington DC, and have the international flights terminal 16 miles out of town?
