We need to provide more stable housing for these residents. A better plan is needed.

We already have major overcrowding and the roads in & out of Barrhaven are terrible.

There are more questions than answers needed from our Mayor and city staff who have unilaterally decided what’s best for our neighborhood. Zero transparency with a live with the consequences. Unless you live here you don’t realize or even care that our social, educational, health and transportation services have all been extended beyond available resources. Why would it be a good idea to place a long term tent shelter in a suburb that doesn’t have the resources to take care of its own residents. Let alone can help new comers. Why not place them in the newly acquired convent you purchased for $11 million for new comers?

I do not support The City of Ottawa is planning to build a tent-structured Asylum Seeker Shelter right in the heart of Barrhaven, potentially bringing hundreds of people into a densely populated area. This could lead to serious safety concerns, overcrowding, and strain on our already stretched public resources like schools and community facilities.

Let’s PROTECT our own people before making a temporary safe haven for lone individuals that will create more crime and congestion in our area. I have grandmothers, mothers, friends and kids that will be directly affected by this bogus idea.

I oppose to the tent idea in that location. It is such a horrible noisy place to live. It is surrounded by transit way on East, Greenbank road on West and Via rail track on North. On South, there is a busy strip mall. In addition, airplanes fly on that location every few minutes. It is not a suitable place for human for a short term or long term. Mr Mayor and Councillors, think you want to live such location.

Barrhaven is already crowded and there is no adequate infrastructure to support this initiative

This Asylum Shelter should be built in downtown area. Barrhaven is suburban area and it is not convenient for asylum seekers to live without a car. It is better to let them live closer to the downtown to show the friendly of Canadian citizens.

This is a massive safety concern.

You youth are already having struggles to get part time job. This will impact our youth employment rate.

Please do not turn our city into the declining cities in the US.

The barrhaven areas is already overcrowded and don’t have the infrastructure to accommodate a larger number of refugees.

Barrhaven is already over crowded and under served with regard to infrastruture, and business.

No tent in Barrhaven.

Brrhave is not meant to be a shelter and don’t destroy its architectural character

We are against this process as there was not community consultation and engagement before taking this decision. Please stop making a shelter in our very quiet and peaceful residential. STOP STOP STOP !!!
