How does a tent accommodate asylum seekers in winter. The purchase of the nunnery on Forest Valley Drive makes more sense.

there are so many gov buildings yet to be converted into apartments. they are closer to all the essentials for asylum seekers. not creating a tent from nowhere to host people who will have access to almost nothing. there is even no service canada/Ontario nearby.

We are writing to inform
you about our concerns and opposition to the proposed Sprung Shelter on Greenbank and
Highbury Park Dr.
Barrhaven’s infrastructure is already at its maximum. Traffic has significantly increased in
recent years. Many residents do not have family doctors and our clinics are overcrowded.
Crime has increased in the last years and this shelter will only add to these already
challenging issues.
The concentrated area will lead to more pollution and garbage
(which has already been limited) and poor sanitary conditions.
Barrhaven intersections are already being populated weekly by panhandlers who leave their garbage behind at the end of their day. Our schools, health clinics, hospitals and other public services cannot take on these additional demands.
We are very proud of our community, we pay our taxes and do not want to see our homes devalued.
A shelter such as this needs to be in an area where they can better access all the required services. There are many schools and government buildings that are not being used so are we spending more money to build this shelter with an expected use of up to 40 years?
We say no to this proposal and implore our Mayor and Councillors to work on our behalf.
