Kids need 30 minutes to eat their lunches. Even with 30 minutes, some who go thru the lunch line for hot lunch should not have to eat like pigs. Please give their 30 minute lunch back. Kids need to get a break and enjoy their down time with friends.

Everyday the first thing my kids say when they walk in the door is, "im starving,can you make me food"? My first question is, "did you eat your lunch?" Every time i check the lunch pales they litterally have 2 bites of their sandwiches gone and juice boxs gone. I would get on them everyday about how important it is for them to eat lunch. They both tell me they try but they dont have time. At this point I still assumed they were still too busy chatting and not eating. Once I learned 15 mins is all these children get to feed their belly's and nourish their brains I was mortified. I feel it is borderline child abuse. Lets also talk about how some children may only get to eat for the day if they get school breakfast and school lunch and they dont even have time to eat that?
I really hope something is done what this situation and each concerned person's voice is herd.

This is absolutely absurd. I could understand this possibly at a high school level but elementary students is absolutely ridiculous. Let the kids eat!!

My kids also attend a Washington Local School and complain about not having time to eat. They come home starving.

My grandchildren are non verbal, but they are coming home every day with lunches that have barely been touched. They are good eater's here at home so I did not understand why, now I understand. They need to have time to eat.

My daughter always told me she didn’t have time to eat. One day for her birthday I took her lunch and ate with her.. we passed out cupcakes which maybe took five minutes and sat down to eat. Myself as an adult couldn’t finish a six inch sub before they said it was time for recess… I told my daughter to stay in and finish her lunch!!!

I am so thankful that there is a petition now for this! My children are always starving because they don't get to eat lunch. My daughter has said that it makes her to nervous to even open her lunch box because by the time she does, she'll only have 8 minutes to eat. The rush of the cafeteria alone is too much.
I've noticed that focusing on a hungry tummy is a huge distraction from the learning time in class.
I truly hope that this petition makes a difference and allows our children enough time to fill their tummies!

They need longer lunch times 15 minutes its so not long enough they need to eat to concentrate.
No one should have 9 minutes to eat a lunch
