How ethical would be a library without staff? In my rural community, our library staff are part of the neighbourhood and often family. We really rely on them not just for the books within the library, but for the recommendations, information, etc.

I don't agree with having no library staff at an open library. I think staff should be on hand for any questions, patrons may have when they are in the library. My other concern is having no staff in an open library may be asking for trouble. I foresee trouble with no staff and anyone can walk in and do whatever they want in the library. I truly believe this is a terrible idea.

A library without staff is just a book stand. Another way of putting it is a building full of politicians and bureaucrats completely useless.

This is not the kind of service residents of Ontario deserve. It is just plain wrong. Cost cutting in this manner reduces libraries everywhere and sends a message that we are not necessary.

My local library helped me get through a difficult year of being out of work. My daily visits to the library helped keep my spirits high and staff aided me in sending resumes and navigating websites. We need a staffed library!

I don't know what I'd do without my library people. Please, what are you thinking? After nurses, these people contribute to the well-being of so many others in the community.

The concept of a staffless public library is chilling, and surely the death knell of a very human public institution.
