I don't want to go to school next to a hazardous facility!

We don't want this in our backyard!

Our family relocated to Fort Mill because it provided a sense of security. Trees. Land. Nature. Safety. And above all, safe and superior schools. Allowing this facility to be built abolishes all of that - not to mention home values. Not only wil you be putting thousands of children at risk being in extreme close proximity to 2 new schools, but you plays thousands upon thousands at risk in the event of an emergency, and more importantly, in everyday normal quality of life lessening our air quality. Think beyond the “now” of money and industry - the short and long term impacts this places in humans beings is unacceptable. I certainly wouldn’t be able to sleep at night knowing the damage I caused.

Keep this out of York County.

Please find a more rural location with a mandatory acres of 50+ for this use.

Please place in a unpopulated area. Absolutely no reason to have a hazardous waste producer in a densely populated area.

Disgusted with the county officials and Fort Mill city officials. It’s all about the money not the people particularly children, that this would even be considered as a location.

I am absolutely mind blown in the fact that Silfab has now been issued a permit to continue their work! Tell me, how did we get a unanimous vote against issuing them a permit then the following Tuesday they have a permit in hand?! You have received 1000s of email against this, and you heard 100s of concerned citizens, including children, given information on the hazardous materials that this plant is expected to use, and they still get a permit. This will not stand! The community is already rallying together to stop Silfab. News outlets have already been called and plan on running more stories on how York County is betraying its citizens. I understand money talks when it comes to politics, but a community rallied together is unstoppable! The community deserves an explanation on your betrayal of your word! We are waiting! Just incase you forgot what this company plans on using at this location: Toluene: Classified as a DHEC Category 3 pollutant, Toluene is the most dangerous category of all. Its chronic effects can result in death or permanent injury after very short exposure to small amounts. The plant plans to use 132 gallons per year of Toluene, with an undisclosed amount stored on-site. Hydrogen Fluoride (HF): This highly poisonous gas is fatal when inhaled, swallowed, or even when it encounters the skin. It is also a DHEC Category 3 pollutant. The proposed plant will have two 7,925-gallon tanks of HF, refilled weekly. The Fire Department mandates a ½ mile evacuation radius. Even if Silfab’s estimates are correct and HF is released at 88% of the concentration limit, the risk remains unacceptably high. Silane: A highly flammable, toxic gas with a sharp pungent smell, Silane is stored on-site in a 22,983-gallon tank (with an unknown total use). It is so explosive that it “may explode when exposed to air.” The gravity of the situation cannot be overstated.
