No Canadian Based Solar Manufacturing Plant in Fort Mill

This is a disgraceful proposal and shows the leaders of our community care more about their pockets than it’s people.

Please do not allow this plant to open. It's enough having to contend with the poisons being generated by New Indy.

Please do not bring this to our community. It is not right to put this next to two schools, multiple neighborhoods, a heavily trafficked amusement park, and so much more.

Fort Mill is a residential area with Manu schools nearby the proposed manufacturing which is not light manufacturing. It is not responsible to put a factory that enjoys pollution in this populated area. Find somewhere less populated! No! Absolutely not ok!

Please do not build this factory so close to the schools and neighborhoods. You are putting everyone at risk

Adamantly oppose this plant, please reconsider

The citizens of Fort Mill and surrounding areas do not want this plant built in our town. We do not want our families exposed to dangerous substances

I am a chemist and worked in the chemical industry for over 40 years, so I'm not a chemophobe. But this is a poor location for this type of production.

This is a negative for our town of Fort Mill. It will cause hazardous conditions for our environment. The schools and neighborhoods are to close in proximity to this plant that will be using dangerous chemicals. We are seriously thinking about moving away from the area if it’s built here and my family has lived here since 1980. We grew up here felt safe here and attended the wonderful schools here. Don’t ruin our town with this dangerous manufacturing plant.

This is definitely not a positive move for our community. It’s very dangerous and if anything will denture new family’s from moving to the area. And we will protests if our child is zoned to go to the new school. We do not want to put our children and community in harms way. Please relocate to a remote area away from schools and homes.

This is atrocious. Our children will be next to dangerous chemicals! Move this elsewhere in SC!

As a concerned resident of Fort Mill, I implore you to vote against this proposal due to the grave health and safety risks it poses to our community. The chemicals involved in this plant’s operations are not just hazardous, they pose a direct threat to the health and safety of our community. Let us consider the following: 1. Toluene: Classified as a DHEC Category 3 pollutant, Toluene is the most dangerous category of all. Its chronic effects can result in death or permanent injury after very short exposure to small amounts. The plant plans to use 132 gallons per year of Toluene, with an undisclosed amount stored on-site. 2. Hydrogen Fluoride (HF): This highly poisonous gas is fatal when inhaled, swallowed, or even when it comes in contact with the skin. It is also a DHEC Category 3 pollutant. The proposed plant will have two 7,925-gallon tanks of HF, refilled weekly. The Fire Department mandates a ½ mile evacuation radius. Even if Silfab’s estimates are correct and HF is released at 88% of the concentration limit, the risk remains unacceptably high. 3. Silane: A highly flammable, toxic gas with a sharp pungent smell, Silane is stored on-site in a 22,983-gallon tank (with an unknown total use). It is so explosive that it “may explode when exposed to air.” The proximity of this plant to our schools is particularly alarming. It sits only 1300 feet (about ¼ mile) from two new schools housing 2500 children. The Fire Department’s ERG (emergency response guide) indicates a minimum evacuation radius of one mile for an 8,000-gallon tank. Silfab’s tank is three times that size. No to this plant in our community!!

Our children and families cannot be exposed to these toxic chemicals. Our town officials should be ashamed that they are putting money before our children’s future.

Please study the information our group has submitted to you. We do not want any further progress on Silfab. Please listen to our requests.

This is not wanted in our community.

Please dont bring this so close to a heavily populated area. Im all for the business, but we owe it to our kids to be smart about the location of a facility like this.
