I am against this project.

Absolutely not!!!

I have lived in fort mill my whole life. Myself and others will not allow a solar plant in fort mill that will poison us, our water, and environment. Fort mill is a small and organic town, and we do not want it ruined by a dirty solar plant that will pollute our town with chemicals and radiation.

I am signing this petition as an urgent plea regarding the proposed Silfab Solar Manufacturing plant. As a concerned resident of Fort Mill, I implore you to vote against this proposal due to the grave health and safety risks it poses to our community. The chemicals involved in this plant’s operations are not just hazardous, they pose a direct threat to the health and safety of our community. Let us consider the following: 1. Toluene: Classified as a DHEC Category 3 pollutant, Toluene is the most dangerous category of all. Its chronic effects can result in death or permanent injury after very short exposure to small amounts. The plant plans to use 132 gallons per year of Toluene, with an undisclosed amount stored on-site. 2. Hydrogen Fluoride (HF): This highly poisonous gas is fatal when inhaled, swallowed, or even when it comes in contact with the skin. It is also a DHEC Category 3 pollutant. The proposed plant will have two 7,925-gallon tanks of HF, refilled weekly. The Fire Department mandates a ½ mile evacuation radius. Even if Silfab’s estimates are correct and HF is released at 88% of the concentration limit, the risk remains unacceptably high. 3. Silane: A highly flammable, toxic gas with a sharp pungent smell, Silane is stored on-site in a 22,983-gallon tank (with an unknown total use). It is so explosive that it “may explode when exposed to air.” The proximity of this plant to our schools is particularly alarming. It sits only 1300 feet (about ¼ mile) from two new schools housing 2500 children. The Fire Department’s ERG (emergency response guide) indicates a minimum evacuation radius of one mile for an 8,000-gallon tank. Silfab’s tank is three times that size. The gravity of the situation cannot be overstated. The proposed plant directly borders an elementary school and a middle school. In the event of an accident, the evacuation zone would cover the entire north section of Fort Mill, affecting countless lives. We must prioritize the safety

Please don’t do it

This is an incredibly horrible decision to allow this by homes and schools. Heartless.

We moved in Fort Mill just 3 years ago and fell in love with it! Now you want to chase us away and move?! And I know at least 4 more families that will do it too. Why? Why would you do that to our children?

Please do not change the zoning. This facility does not belong in Fort Mill, SC

As a parent of a child who will potentially be attending the schools next to this plant and a resident of region Park, it’s appalling that this is even a possibility. It’s bad enough that all the environmental crap is making our kids sick. This is just too close to home.

We don’t need this in our community destroying our environment. We especially don’t need it so close to our children.

I would not want my children going to school next to the plants.
