I would like to see a law pass that would prevent smoking at all entrances/exits to all buildings so people with diseases like cancer, asthma and copd will be able to freely walk inside or outside without them worrying if they are going to have to end up with a severe asthma attack, end up in the hospital or possibly die.  For those who don't know about asthma and how cigarette smoke affects them this is what happens.  Asthma is an inflammatory airway disease that involves both airway inflammation and impaired airflow, and it affects 22 million Americans.  SHS (second hand smoke) is comprised of side stream smoke (SS) and mainstream smoke (MS).   MS is the portion exhaled by smokers and accounts for 15% of total SHS exposure. SS is the portion of SHS that is released from the burning tip of a cigarette and accounts for 85% of total SHS exposure.  This information is from http://www.jabfm.org/content/24/3/313.full

If need be we can set up a designated smoking area at least 50 feet from the entrances/exits to all buildings for those who do choose to smoke.  This way both parties are taken care of.

Please whether you are a smoker or not please vote for this law so we can keep people who want and strive to be healthy stays healthy.  I believe this to be a fix for everyone.
