I am opposed to this type of highway-oriented commercial development that runs counter to smart growth principles, which emphasize reinvestment in existing neighborhoods, walkable mixed-use centers, and protecting community character. It also pulls investment and activity away from downtown Danville, which serves as our historic, economic, and civic heart.
Locating a service station here would introduce significant traffic congestion, environmental concerns, and safety risks for pedestrians in a largely residential area. With two existing Five Star stations nearby, this project adds redundancy, not value. Most importantly, it threatens the integrity of one of Danville’s key gateways—an area that should reflect the charm and livability we work so hard to preserve.

If the proposition is to provide walkable access to food then how will anyone walk to it in a neighborhood where there are no sidewalks? To gain access to food that consists primarily of beer, ding dongs and chips? This is a ruse to ease an unnecessary gas franchise. Get out of here with this nonsense.
