Finals are well known for bringing grades down, not raising them. At a point in time where seniors should be celebrating all they have accomplished, they find themselves quite stressed with studying. In addition, the scores can damage the final transcripts that many students need to send to college. Instead of damaging seniors grades and draining them mentally at a time where they should be doing all the senior celebrations, we propose that if seniors have a B or above in a class and are not on an attendance contract that they should not be required to take a final. B- and lower and/or having been on an attendance contract would require taking a final in the class. Seniors that meet the requirement to not have to take the final could still opt to do so if they wanted to. In addition to the benefits for seniors not being mentally drained, it would also motivate seniors to show up to class and work hard during their second semester of senior year.

Currently since we are in semester 2, it would be too late for the Class of 2026 to implement the attendance contract policy, but the Class of 2026 still firmly believes that we should be able to not have to take senior finals according only to the grade policy. The attendance policy would be implemented with the Class of 2027
