The County finally backed down and scrapped the plans for the trash station on Route 7. They thought they could dump on our community without consequence, but our resistance forced their hand. Stay alert because we will keep watching them to ensure they honor this commitment.
The Harford County govt., at the direction of the County Executive, purchased a 23 acre site on Rt. 7, formally referred to as “Plecker’s World of Golf,” to be converted into a trash transfer station. This proposed location is unsuitable due to the two lane access road that is already congested with local commercial and residential traffic, and the site is surrounded by residential properties. The County, working with MD Environmental Services, overpaid for the property ($2.9M) and is requesting that the County Council approve an additional $3.5M for site specific engineering. We the undersigned are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to oppose this location and to identify alternative locations that are better suited (satisfactory ingress/egress, away from residential properties), for such a facility.
The County Executive thinks they can waste millions of our tax dollars to turn a residential zone into a dump while we sit back and watch. I have been spending my nights digging through these land purchase records and the lack of transparency from the County Council is absolutely infuriating. We are not letting them drop a trash facility in our backyards just because they refuse to look for a better site.

Rt 7 is a nightmare already. traffic is backed up every single day and now they want trash trucks added to the mix? terrible idea.

Wasting 3.5 mil on top of what they already overpaid? typical county government incompetence. find somewhere else.

Ridiculous location. who plans these things?? there are way better spots for a transfer station than right next to a neighborhood.
