Our traditional Owners locals and tourist regularly stop and enjoy our fresh water pools and springs for fishing swimming and camping
Due to our large amount of resources the mining companies are sending more and more ore to Port Hedland on our Roads in large numbers of bulk haulage quad road trains.
To accommodate the high volume of heavy traffic and increase productivity for these mining companies Main Roadz has started the Coogan Gorge realignment.
They have promoted the job as a safety measure to prevent accidents though the Coogan Hills accidents that only occurred due to truck drivers failing to slow down at sign marked bends.
As part of the modification Main Roads have used contractors to draw water from a number of sites, one of which is Long Pool.
No public consultation and with no regard to our locals and tourists.
This pump is diesel powered and position right on the bank of our pool where we fish swim and cook, putting the water out safety and our health at risk from Hydrocarbon contamination caused and left behind by the operation.
We are aware of alternative sources to draw from and therefore are making a stand to have Main Roads remove the pump.

We want our pool for us and our visitors to stop camp and enjoy
