It’s unfortunate there are corporate interest groups that will go to the extreme of disregarding the lives of so many, in efforts to obtain much gain. Also, many times these atrocities are carried out against an already battered, bullied, and bewildered community of predominately black folks. Sadly, even some elected officials as well as prominent clergymen will turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the long term damages and the hazardous environmental threat this pipeline project poses. Allowing this pipeline to succeed in its efforts to build here in our community would speak volumes to the integrity of our City Council as well as its Commissioners or the lack there of. Go away Byhalia Pipeline Project find another route to poison. The refinery has already done and continues to poison the area closest to it and that’s the black community. Do not add insult to injury by allowing this pipeline project to succeed in its deadly mission to bully away the land of black land owners and build a pipeline through the black community. we must not allow these corporations to cheaply ruin our land and resources. Memphis has some of the best tasting water, it would be a shame if the pipelines were built.

Protect this community and the aquifer!

If it were being put to a vote, you could count my vote AGAINST the pipeline coming through Memphis and surrounding areas. I don’t want it coming thru any part east of the Mississippi River from Tennessee through to the Atlantic Ocean!

Born and raised Memphian who opposes the construction of a hazardous pipeline running through parts of our city.

I'm opposed to allowing a pipeline in a geologically unstable area over one of the world's largest and most valuable natural aquifers. The pipeline will pass over the aquifer and through the New Madrid Seismic Zone is responsible for many of the biggest and most devastating earthquakes east of The Rockies. The New Madrid Earthquakes during the three month period between December, 1811 and February, 1812, included four devastating earthquakes with estimated magnitudes between 7.3 and 8.0, which would have ruptured any pipelines, and over 80,000 square miles of fissures were left in wake of these quakes. Those quakes were the cause of the lpcal Reelfoot Lake formation, where the ground immediately subsided due to seismic activity. Tennessee includes both this New Madrid Seismic Zone and the East Tennessee Seismic Zone, but the threat of a devastating earthquake is higher on the west side of the state, near Memphis, where this pipeline would also run over, and could forever contaminate, the Memphis Sands Aquifer. more at: https://www.wkrn.com/weather-headlines/tennessee-is-more-earthquake-prone-than-you-may-expect/
