No Off-Leash (and no fence) Dog Park at Broadmoor Glen or Broadmoor Valley Park

Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services provided the following statement to 11 News: “In 2013, the establishment of an off-leash dog area at Broadmoor Valley Park was initiated in response to a request from the neighborhood. A two-month pilot program was launched, allowing dogs to be off-leash from 6 to 9 a.m. Following a positive response from the community, the off-leash area was officially adopted. The designated hours remain limited to 6 to 9 a.m., reflecting the neighborhood’s input. Since its adoption, there have been no reported incidents, highlighting the program’s success and the community’s satisfaction with this arrangement. There has been no determination about creating an off-leash dog area in Broadmoor Glen Park."

No off leash. Sometimes dogs can be triggered by something or someone.

An off-leash time for pets is a saver to both kids and pets.

Keep the park safe for both the children and the paw babies!!!

Most parks the people violate this rule and don’t clean up after their pets. This just means more careless pet owners.

Broadmoor Valley Park has off-leash dogs running rampant almost every day, at all times of day. There is no enforcement of off-leash hours or designated areas. This creates serious safety concerns for me and my law-abiding dog. I am in agreement with the effort to ban off-leash dogs at Broadmoor Valley Park.

Dogs should only be allowed to run off-leash in a confined area. I have seen off-leash dogs so far ahead of the owner that the owner cannot see what dog is up. No matter how 'trained' the owner claims the dog is, there can always be a trigger for the dog to act against that training.

There's Bear Creek Park that's a fantastic park. Safe for dogs and people who don't don't want to be close to dogs.

It makes it hard to take your dogs to park legally. Thanks.

I am beyond exhausted by having off leash dogs in my yard from the park next door. They even come up on my deck and mess in my yard. I would absolutely LOVE to have off leash dogs banned. I know of at least two times kids were attacked by dogs while playing at the park.

I thought all parks in Co Springs were leash restricted. But not enforced

ER doc here, dog bites in this region are astoundingly common. Far more prevalent than anywhere I’ve practiced. Poor leashing compliance is a huge issue, I see countless children and poor city workers attacked. There are innumerable dog parks in the city away from playgrounds, neighbors walking, and also dogs going on walks that have responsible owners and are leashed but don’t play well with others.

If there is a dog park there should always be a fenced in area. This is for the off leash dogs’ safety, other dogs who may just be walking by and on a leash, and kids/adults safety as well. When my dog is on a leash he does not like it at all when dogs come up to him, especially off leash dogs. If that happens to me and my dog reacts it will most definitely be whoever owns that dog that is responsible for anything that could potentially happen.

We do have VERY nice dog parks (Bear Creek) near by and concerned with the dog feces that the dog owners may not pickup whichbwill cause a healthbhazard since many young children use the park for young sports activities throughout the year.
