16 years ago, a young, beautiful, smart, vibrant woman lost her life after tripping and falling to her death while hiking at Zoar Valley. Her name was Lindsey Pedacchio, and her tragedy changed our small town of Randolph, NY and everyone who knew her, forever. Since her death, there have been numerous other tragic deaths, including the death of a 16 year old girl last night on the 16 year anniversary of Lindsey’s death. Zoar Valley is a beautiful, but dangerous place, with decaying trails, a lack of maps available for visitors, and without appropriate safety barriers to keep visitors safe. How many lives must be lost before the state makes needed changes to keep visitors safe?
