Kids need to be around other kids. Their mental health is at risk! Kids do not spread COVID-19.

This is not just about learning. It’s about the socialization of our children. We are paying school taxes and we are not getting a service in return. We can’t shut society down.

Since so many countries in Europe have their children in school without adverse effects, why can’t we? Looking at the science it surely makes sense.

No. I understand that it is a difficult situation, but the answer isn't to put children and teachers in classroom where they will continue spreading the virus through the community and many will get infected and die. Petition for funding to hire additional teachers for distance learning so there is a better ratio of kids/teachers. Petition for better access to unemployment for those who have young children and aren't able to work. Petition for more PPP funds for small businesses. Petition for a better social floor so we aren't put in this situation again. Do not petition to fill classrooms during a pandemic. And don't anyone dare come back to me with mortality rates and percentages. I don't want to hear percentages. They are impersonal, they discount the value of lives. I want to hear raw numbers. How many dead children is worth it to put kids back in classrooms? How many dead teachers? How many dead people in our community because of increased spread is an acceptable trade for sending your child to school?

I think families should have an option to send our children to school. Schools need to adapt to provide for the safest environment such as more outdoor learning and plexiglass for the teachers like at the grocery stores. Children learn so much from other kids. It is detrimental to their health in so many levels to have them stuck at home doing school on screens. My teens feel it is a huge waste of their education. Please work to get our children back in school.

if we all teach our children to follow the protocol, wear face covering, wash hands, used sanitizer, separate the desk, create a protocol for breaks, etc. or at least open the school partially, let the children be at school at least one or two days a week. I

The kids need to be back in a classroom learning from a teacher. Wear masks, move the desks apart, etc.
