I live at Archers Gate and do not want another co-op in the area, perhaps they should make-over the one along Boscombe Road, which is an eyesore, and give us more choice, by letting Sainsburys or some other food outlet take over the budgens store

Why don't the co op spend the money on sorting out their old building in amesbury town centre. This new acquistion will drive even more people away from Amesbury to find a better cheaper choice. What we need here is the Asda we residents asked for in the first place. Maybe co op would like to sell their current amesbury store to Asda, we would get better value, more choice and it would attract more shoppers to the town.

There are more than enough Coops in Amesbury. The town needs some choice and diversity, not more of the same.

The Co-op should sort the derelict town centre building before ANY other development takes place. I have boycotted the Co-op since it took over the old "Spar", and shopped at Andover Asda and Tidworth Tesco until Lidl- and Tesco since- opened here.
Monopolies Commision next?

We don't want anymore Coop shops around Amesbury and the surrounding area, like we don't need anymore Tesco stores that seem to pop up over night like Coop stores everywhere

Hearing that the Co-op have taken over Budgens @ Archers Gate we wish to record our objections to this. The Co-op was supposed to be moving in to the eyesore block of shops & flats bordering Porton Road, where the shops still stand empty! There is also the shameful old Co-op store in Salisbury Street. What are they trying to do take over the place like Tesco. A compulsary purchase order should be issued by Wiltshire Council and make the old Co-op in to a Mall of small shops - thus reducing rents & business rates. We do not want the Co-op holding a manopoly again in Amesbury. They are understocked and far too expensive!

Surely the amount of co ops in amesbury is against fair traiding and competition laws. The co up certainly have the monopoly on corner shops in amesbury. This is unfair, leave the budgens as it is, and give someone else a chance!
