More and more of our kids are coming home devastated over being bullied whether it be face-to-face, through text messaging or viasocial media they are being tormented. Some victims talk to the bully themselves to little or no avail while some talk to their parents but many are going to their schools faculty with their concerns. And more and more there is little done about it even though schools have a zero tolerance policy for bullying they still do nothing to stop the harassment. So when the student "victim" has finally had enough of being abused emotionally, mentally and even physically they stand up for themselves. As many of the parents who are concerned over this issue already know that when the victim does stand up for themselves they are punished by suspension and turned over to the court system where they face even harsher punishment. And what happens to the harasser or "Bully"? Nothing, they are not punished in anyway and are free to continue their rampage on their next victim. Yes I agree that there should be no violence on either students part but when you are backed into a corner it's your natural instinct to seek help or fight back. Yet all this can be prevented if the faculty at our schools would simply take the time to try and solve the issue before it gets out of hand. And when the punishments are handed out they should be handing them out to the one who provoked the whole situation. By not doing this it is showing the ones who feel the need to torment their fellow students that what they are doing is not wrong and they will not be held accountable for their actions. While the student who has been going through abuse for weeks, months or even years that they have no one to protect them and us parents can only do so much since we have no authority over the other child. So let's get this petition signed and passed around to bring awareness to the local schools that it will no longer be tolerated and if we need to we will fight back through the Board of Education and if need be the media. Let's give a voice to the bullied children out there and make sure that we stop the psychological abuse that is being put on our children andseek justice for the ones who need it and punishment for the ones who is in the wrong and this includes the school system.
