As Tshwane University of Technology soshanguve North campus Final year BEd students plead that the Micro-Teaching presentation not to take place on the 31st of August 2020 but to start on the 7th September 2020 instead based on the following reasons

1. Not all students will be able to return place of residence on this month due to :

A. Financial reasons.. Most students depends on the NSFAS allowance to keep up with day to day activities

B. Most parents get paid on month end basis, so they be able to get funds to return to Pretoria from provinces far as Limpopo, KZN etc

2. CAMPUS BASED RESIDENCES ARE NOT ALLOWING ALL STUDENTS TO COME BACK ON THE SAME DAY. They use certain Categories to allow students to return to their residents

3. Not all students got their permits to grant them authority to access campuses

4. It came on a short notice as the Communique from the Vice Chancellor gave options to students that they can continue to stay and study at home as no physical classes/lessons will take place as the university will continue with online classes.

I have been reading your messages and the reality of our shared situation is clearer than ever. It is truly humbling to see so many of you coming together when things feel this uncertain. This is not about me anymore because it is about the struggles we are all facing right now.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you felt this same frustration and spoke up. This momentum belongs entirely to you because I truly did not expect so many people to see this. Thank you for showing that we are in this together.

The Vice Chancellor made it clear that those who do not mind staying at home may continue doing so, thus is a short notice and most of us are waiting on nsfas and parents to get paid so we can have money for transport

There is no time , we must use time that we have to finish because some of us we are level 4s that are already done the practicals for three months so we need to finish because we are loosing permanent jobs out there....

The pandemic has altered our norm of living and introduced fear and insecurity to many people. So as for me I propose that teaching practice shouldn't be done this month or rather the next, atleast provide more time for the students preparing and also for them to be psychology ready.

We need enough time as some of us are coming from disadvantaged places where we can't even get an access to the internet cafe to do our lesson plans.

I second the petition because some of us like my self i am dependent to Nsfas no other extra income i received ,so by that way i wont be able to manage micro teaching on 31 of this month.

Short notice for micro teaching preparations and I have no any other financial means except for nsfas funds hence I should buy the resources that I will use which are costly
