The mandate is officially off the table. Your pressure forced the board to change course and end the mask requirement for our students. Keep watching the school board meetings to ensure they stay true to this decision.

Illinois State Board of Education & Illinois State Board of Public Health released their recommendations for in person classes for the 2020-2021 school year. It states ALL students ages 2 and up must wear a mask all day, even during Physical Education classes.

There are scientific studies that explain the dangers of wearing masks for an extended period of time. It can increase your risk for respiratory infections, decrease oxygen levels, increase blood pressure, and increase sympathetic responses which increase cortisol levels.

If students are sick, they must stay home. It has been shown that asymptotic carriers of SARS-CoV-2 are weak, and do not pass the infection on as once thought. Therefore, masks on healthy students is not needed.

This results of the petition will be sent to ISBE, IDPH and the governors office.

Wearing of masks is unhealthy and detrimental to children's learning capabilities along with them learning how to socialize. If necessary, please consider face shields, it does the same as masks, but children would have a easier time socializing and breathing

My son already struggles to focus with ADD, I can’t even imagine what beginning high school will be like with this requirement. The most challenging years of his learning so far are ahead, I KNOW the mask will only add to his challenges of focus.

I work in healthcare, front line, after about 2 hours I need a break from the mask, they are hot, u get short of breath, I don't know of anyone who can wear it the way the governor is requesting, has he tried to wear the mask all day, I highly doubt it.

My kids will not wear masks in school. My daughter has autism. My son has Adhd. It will be impossible. And they're harmful. I will homeschool, or do E learning. I want my kids to have a normal life. This is not the world i thought my kids would grow up in.

As a retired teacher with more than 30 years of experience, there is no need for masks in the classroom. There will be more problems than anyone can begin to imagine. Additionally, the “science” behind mask wearing is highly questionable.

Children should not be forced to wear a mask at school. Social development is an important part of the school experience for young children and a mask would interfere with this development. I also am concerned about school bus drivers wearing a mask while driving.

Masks 1- do not protect against viruses and 2- only cause health issues. Kids need to re-build natural immunity after a year of extreme sanitation. Lastly, Stockholm syndrome. Enough said.
