I’m not opposed to our boys wearing masks. But if opposing teams will not comply so be it. I believe our org’s requirement of doing so is acceptable protection.

Mask are not good with all that running.. Breathing heavy only makes you suck the mask into your mouth and nose. Which I would say is a form of suffocation!

Due to the players constantly moving around, the probability of transmission on the court is very low. Data from college basketball play agrees with.

Although I understand the policy was created due to the district wanting to keep our students and community safe, I do NOT understand the forcing of OUR policy on other districts. Mask wearing during basketball competition was left up to the individual districts by the WPIAL. Baldwin chose to require masks, period. Right or wrong, that was the decision. I, as a community member and mother of two student athletes, can accept this requirement of my boys. I DO NOT, however, accept our district forcing our policy on other districts. This is costing our boys games both home and away. We are 1 of 3 schools out of 17 in 6A forcing opponents to comply to our policy. This is causing our boys to lose games and possibly a spot in playoffs. We simply CANNOT do this to them. There HAS to be a compromise of balance between safety and availability to compete. If Baldwin's decision was for our student athletes to wear masks, they will wear masks, home and away. I CANNOT accept this idea of forcing other schools to comply to our policy, especially when we are in the minority. We all are out there in world every day, and we cannot dictate to others our views and force our safety beliefs and standards on people we come across on a daily basis. The most we can do is protect ourselves . Please use that lesson and consider lifting the mandates on other schools to wear the masks during play. Let our boys play the game while protecting themselves and the community by following the policy Baldwin set to keep us all safe, and LIFT the mandate on other schools so our boys can play!

Kids need to breathe especially during exercise.
All studies show that young people are rarely affected by this virus. Not even one school age youth or child has died from this virus in PA. Wearing masks in Pa is not a law, simply a
mandate (request).

Understanding your reasons for mandating mask wearing during games, I, as a parent, can accept that. However, I do not agree with the decision to FORCE other schools to adapt your policy at THEIR home games or our boys cannot play them. If their policy is no masks, that does not mean we can't wear ours. Please DO NOT force our boys out of competition due to this reason. They can still be safe and protected following your policy, even if the school we are playing does not share that policy. This current decision is only hurting the boys and will prevent them from going any further in the season, and that is not right.

The boys already take extreme precautions in order to play. While I strongly prefer that they not wear masks when they play, I feel it’s only fair that we allow other schools the freedom of their choice without impacting whether we play the game or not. For this issue to possibly disqualify our boys from post season play is down right shameful!

Had a child say they couldn't tryout this season due to their heart condition. Doctors said it was too dangerous while wearing a mask. That child may never play HS basketball because of this decision.

The kids are missing so much and this can affect the game currently scheduled and well as games in the playoffs should they get there
