While I do believe that the police did not need to shoot him so many times.......... he WAS a criminal!!!!! Crap, remembrance day..... Try remembering all our heroes and innocent victims that are murdered every day by the same criminal element as Mario Woods

The use of deadly force is always the last resort. This person was a parolee at large who had stabbed some citizen for no particular reason and then refused to drop the knife he used in the assault. The police used less then lethal force first, but it did not deter this person who was hell bent on committing police assisted suicide.

San Francisco is not the city I grew up with. Unbelievably ashamed of the so called city leaders for honoring a violent criminal while choosing to totally dishonor the brave men and women who kept their ritzy section of the city so safe that they have no connection to reality. You should hide your faces in abject SHAME!

When a person is smart enough, he/she wouldn't vote for a criminal and make him a hero... SFPD, Thank you so much for protecting my family and my community! Keep up the good fight! God bless all the men and women in uniform! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

I'm embarrassed that our city leaders felt this was a priority to focus on, and what the message to the hoodlums in our community is from it.

How about drunk driver remembrance day? Or spousal abuse remembrance day? Crime is crime and criminals should not be praised.

Let's just encourage the other criminals to continue their ways with ignorant honorings like this.

Dumb and Dumbers Shame on you for honoring a thug. You should be honoring the police who are damned if they do and damned if they don't. There is something seriously wrong with you, sending the wrong message to the criminals and not supporting the police. Hey here is a thought why not (with your line of thinking) get rid of the police and let the criminals run amuck and do what eve r the hell they want? Maybe they will rob, rape and kill your families...who you gonna call now?

No way should a criminal get any glory whatsoever! Something is wrong with our society when we want to give homage to a killer.

As a lifelong resident if the forever greet city, I am deeply offended and think this is the most disgusting act. How about those who built and maintained SF to be a great metropolitan city? This is a slap and spit in the face.

I don't want to honor a criminal. He stabbed someone before he was killed
