Let's not forget that Mario Woods attempted to murder another human being shortly before refusing to listen to the police after non-lethal force was used. A taser should have been used to render him immobile, but the Mayor and Supervisors failed to provide the police with this common tool. The FBI will find that the shooting of Mario Woods, a KNOWN gang member and attempted murderer, was justified. HOWEVER, 26 rounds were not. There is no honor or justice in remembering an attempted murderer. It will only serve to divide the community over an already polarized situation.

Where is the day to remember those killed defending the rest of us from criminals like this individual? This is disgraceful.

So disappointed that the current BOS voted unanimously for a day of remembrance for Mario Woods when so many others(victims & fallen police) are actually deserving of such an honor. I'm ready for a change of the BOS, in Nov '16.

The members of this Board of Supervisors have no business in city government. Mario Woods did nothing to improve San Francisco. His family and friends claim he had recently redeemed himself. Seriously? Why was he out there stabbing someone then? How about honoring the courageous members of the San Francisco Police Department who have given the ultimate sacrifice for the citizen of San Francisco. The ones who have died well before their time for the citizen leaving behind broken families. Children to grow up without a parent! These are the ones who should be honored by the city. Vote these people out of office! Shame on them!!

This just shows that the city officials are all criminals too or maybe just Morons. Where is the remembence day for fallen officers?

Where is the day honoring Isaac Espinoza who was ambushed and murdered in cold blood while on duty protecting the Mario Woods of this world.

Totally wrong and I won't honor him.

This is just ridiculous. Yes, it was a tragedy, but worthy of a day to honor him is a stretch beyond credibility.

As a long time resident of this city I am appalled that the BOS will side with a criminal to save face with the public. The police did not show up and execute this man. They tried everything in their power to get a violent criminal to stop an comply with orders after he had STABBED a person. He is ultimately responsible for his life ending, not the police.
