this man is a career criminal with a knife that he refused to put down. And would not comply with the officers. He had just sliced a person so the police where right in using deadly force.

I find it offensive that they Board of Supervisors would even consider a day of remembrance. Law Enforcement and our Military continue to be scrutinized under this insanity called transparency and political correctness. Acts, such as this further fuel the fire.

I support the men and woman of the SFPD. A Mario Woods memorial day is a slap in the face to every police officer in the country that places themself in harms way to protect their communities.

To honor a criminal over political correctness merits a discussion on whether the board of supvs are capable of protecting their own citizens. Shameful, disturbing, stupid, morally wrong, and pathetic.. Wow... There's so much more to say about this disturbing announcement.... Wow unreal!!!!

To honor this man is a slap in the face to every law abiding citizen and every law enforcement officer. This type of stupidly is what is bringing this nation down, no one has to accept responsibility for what they brought on themselves.

No way, this man had every opportunity to give up and HE, chose not to. SFPD did a great job.

To honor a convicted felon who purposely and UN-lawfully abuses citizens and those that work to serve and protect us, while placing their very lives on the line...FREELY AND WITH GREAT SACRIFICE & PRIDE, is absolutely disgusting.

You got to be kidding me! The city supervisors should be arrested for terminal stupidity.

Members of the board of supervisors, please remember that a peaceful society is one with the rule of law. We must uphold the law and those who enforce it, even when it is not popular. Civilization is very fragile, look at different parts of the world and cherish what we have here....its worth fighting for.

This has got to be the most asinine thing I have ever heard. Why would the Supervisors elect to make a martyr out of a criminal.
