I would be freaking if my kids were around that. Not ok. Treat it low any sickness that's contagious. No school till its competitors gone for 24 hrs or more!

I'm very surprised that this is not already a policy. I thought all public schools had a no-live bug policy. This definitely needs to be adopted.

Stop letting people be lazy make them get rid of it before they go make other families spend lots of money to get rid of it! What a awfully selfish person you would have to be to send your child to school with lice if you know about it.

Head love is going around So many schools. Some parents aren't diligent in eradicating them so the cycle never ends! Kids shouldn't be allowed in school with a head lice infestation. I have had to deal with two school aged children coming home with it. It is expensive and time consuming to take care of it, but we do take care of it. It's gotten to the point that I am so sick of it coming back around (due to other households not properly if at all dealing with it) that I no longer allow for sleep overs... At least until it seems to not be a problem in the schools. I know of three schools where it is a problem right now.

Glad to see the community taking action. Conversations with school administration has gone nowhere in the past. Thanks for putting this petition together.

No kids should be exposed to head lice and be at school. Think about others family's how expensive it gets when you have to buy all kinds of products. No kids should go to school when they have head lice.

I own a hair salon in the Dalles. I have been doing hair in this town for 15 years. I can count on one hand how many people I have had to turn away because of having lice, in those 15 years. This last fall we had to turn away 6 Dufur students, in one week, that have come in for hair appointments. My son also had to be treated because of students in his class that have been left untreated and/or unchecked, passing this around. This is a HUGE PROBLEM!!!! This needs to be addressed and controlled.

I missed 2 days of work and spent $220.00 on a visit at a professional lice removal facility in Portland. I don't want to hear of anymore parents or children having to go through this.

Grateful to see proactive parents and school. This has definitely been a tough year, and quite exhausting!!

My oldest daughter (5th grader) has had it so many times this year! It wasn't until we chopped her hair off, that she finally has been headlice free for a couple months now. It's the worst it's ever been.

I think this is a great idea and will help this problem a lot! At least slow it down.

I was shocked that Dufur School District allowed active Head Lice cases to infect other students. The only success other school districts have had in controlling an epidemic is keeping an infected student from contact with other students!
