We, the undersigned, oppose recent proposals by Conservative Home Secretary Amber Rudd proposing that, in the future, UK firms could be forced to disclose what percentage of their workforce is 'non-British' as a way to encourage them to hire more ‘domestic’ workers.

It is unclear whether these proposals would apply to the public sector and to the Higher Education sector in particular. But we are of the firm view that such proposals have no place in 21st century Britain, and that any listing of workers according to their nationality are divisive, toxic, and objectionable.

As staff in the HE sector we object forcefully to any such measures ever being introduced in the United Kingdom.
