Inasmuch as the owners of 5394 Williams Rd, Lewisville, NC (along with their tenants West Bend Bar & Venue) are seeking to annex into the Town of Lewisville:
And, inasmuch as unincorporated businesses in Forsyth County are barred from obtaining a mixed drink license:
And, inasmuch as West Bend Bar & Venue is seeking annexation for the end goal of obtaining a mixed drink license:

We, the residences and surrounding neighbors are deeply concerned for the safety of our community. We, the undersigned, ask the Town of Lewisville Counsil vote “NAY” to the annexation of West Bend Bar & Venue.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 12,429 people died in 2023 due to drunk driving. That's one every 42 minutes. Beer contains 3-7% alcohol. Wine contains 11-14% alcohol. But, standard liquors contain 40-50% alcohol. Whereas it typically takes the average man 4-5 beers to reach a 0.08% blood alcohol content, he could reach the same condition with just 1 or 2 mixed liquor drinks.

While we can appreciate the added tax revenue this annexation would bring to the Lewisville annual budget, we implore the counsel not to obtain it at the heightened risk to our children. It’s not a leap of logic to understand that West Bend Bar & Venue’s mixed drink license would bring at least some degree of intoxicated drivers to our residential neighborhoods in West Bend and beyond. The revenue is simply not worth any risk to our beloved families.
