This petition is for property owners and residents of the Town of McClellanville, SC only. We the undersigned property owners and residents of the Town of McClellanville strongly urge the Town Council not to create a new "Leash Law" for the McClellanville. The Town already has a Vicious Dog Ordinance; Article II, Section 3.200 which addresses dangerous dogs and a procedure for grievances. Not to belittle anyone's bad experience with dogs but there is already a way to deal with that.

Our objections are for a number of reasons:

• The existing ordinance addresses public safety and establishes a procedure
• A new law creates a burden on already overburdened staff
• Creating a redundant law that will punish 99% for the actions of 1% is wasteful and overreaching governance.
• Friendly dogs that roam have been a part of the Town's character forever.
