Plenty of towns have banned plastic bags sucessfully. We can, too. Not only for our marine life, but also for our green spaces, where children should never have to play among shredded bags and other trash.

Although this won't put an end to the issue of plastic waste completely, we can make this small baby step to make a difference in the city of Salem.

Let's have a bag-making party to kick this off. I'll donate time and thread to make bags out of old t-shirts.

People fear change, but they also adapt quickly. We can adapt to this change, we can use re-usable bags and make an incredible positive impact on our environment.

Living in salem my whole life and seeing all the litter stuck in the bushes is just depressing. Bring on the reusable bags already!

I 100% support this. We need to get a grip and start protecting the ocean. I walk it every day and I'm disgusted with the pollution there on the beach. But let's start with the plastic bags at least. :)
