If Stoke City Council can borrow £59 million it should not be used to build a new head quarters.
It should be used to stop any more cuts in jobs and services, and be used as an opportunity to create real jobs- for example by building new affordable council housing.

Absolute joke. They cut our bins and libraries but find 59 million for their own fancy offices? Keep the old building and fix the roads instead.

How on earth a Council can justify borrowing £59 million to build something that isn't needed, hasn't been included in any manifesto, hasn't been voted for by the people of Stoke-on-Trent who will end up paying for this over the next few generations, really amazes me. This comes at a time when Councils are being asked to reduce spending and at the same time removing the very people who actually do give value for our money. Those at the top are egotistical ideologists who are not concerned about the results of the decisions they make. The only way we can stop them is to stop voting them in at the next election. Lets stop this abhorrent spending on white elephants and put the money to better use - ensuring front-end jobs and bringing existing housing stock up to date.
