Tell the City of Portland and Multnomah County: No homeless camp/village near our schools and preschools!

Quite obviously, the poor planning is a problem. The proximity to schools and preschools is a significant problem. (Read that again, please.). The abundance of needles and discarded drug paraphernalia in the St Johns area is another unrecognized problem. Why aren’t the concerns of the residents being addressed in detail? This proposed plan not acceptable, and the problems are already surfacing without any solution being implemented.

This proposal makes no sense at all! You need to find another place that isn't close to schools for sure! Would you like this located within 2 blocks from your house?

This is not good for the health and safety of our children in the neighborhood. Much better options available with more accountability.

Please return this camp to the Roberts Avenue site. That site is already owned by the city.

I’ve lived in the St. John’s neighborhood my entire life. Luckily my child is grown and I do not have to worry about sending him to school in this neighborhood. It’s no longer family friendly. In my lifetime I have watched the area steadily decline. The police presence has become nonexistent, crime rates have gone up and at the same time it costs more to live here. Let’s put our tax dollars to work by providing services to help those in crisis instead of funding a haphazard housing attempt. Why put our children at risk by agreeing to fund some sort of village next door to a grade school and preschools? Our kids deserve better. We owe it to them to fight for their safety. They are innocent and vulnerable and should be our very first priority.

This should be put on city owned land not waste our tax dollars to support a church. Also the site is in the heart of STJ not a good location. The neighbors near the homeless camp that is being relocated to our area have complained about crime and problems for years. This is another project being shoved down our throats without considering the neighborhoods opinions. I understand people need help, but a few pods here and there is a far cry from what the homeless population needs. The city needs to commit to helping the homeless not creating an illusion.

Good intentions, wrong location.

It is my understanding that with other options why this is being built just across from a grade school and not far from a community center why one would choose to place a homeless camp so close. it is my belief that this will be detrimental to the well being and safety of the children as well as to the community itself. I am left to wonder where the division of church and state lie. For a church to profit from this is a shame .

I object to this use of land in a neighborhood with schools, libraries, community center where kids will be at risk. Other space is available that should be used that is not in the heart of a settled neighborhood.

I believe a better solution can be found.

This lot has been inappropriately given property tax exemption for decades. Cities and Counties doing business with Churches is not appropriate. Put the $40,000 back into support at another, public owned property.

It’s called tough love! Make life miserable for these drug/alcoholic people, this is not a housing issue! Stop supporting them with free handouts, I’ve talked with a few, that’s why their here!1111

Not an appropriate location. Not an appropriate solution and absolutely not an appropriate working with the impacted community.

Please find a more suitable location. Or better yet - allocate these funds to permanent housing, mental healthcare and job training for the Hazelnut Grove folks. Let's fund solutions to homelessness, not fund more homelessness.

No homeless camp near the school!!

Looking forward to the lawsuit against the city and ousting everyone in office who ignored the majority voice of the residents of St. Johns

JOHS should work collaboratively with the neighborhood to identify a better location for this project.

Find a more appropriate place for our homeless citizens. They do not belong a block from our schools!

Please consider another location other than the already suffering downtown St. John's. Also, someplace not next to school!
